Pop Tart Cake ~ Really?

I know - Everyone LOVES a Poptart for breakfast. Their yummy centers all gooey when you toast them up just right - not so hot that the icing burns your tongue, but enough that they are really warm against the nice cold glass of milk you drink with it. Geez O now I have to go grab a box of poptart's when I grocery shop next.

Yes he was totally serious. I said, "What kind of a Birthday Cake would you like for your party this year?" and he said, "I love PopTarts. Can you make me a PopTart cake?"

I said, "What do you mean - like a cake made with PopTarts?" and he said, "No, I want it to look like this guy." and he ran into the kitchen and came back with the PopTart box.

Really????

And so another unique idea was born.........

My kids really do think that I can make anything out of cake. I fear this might continue - in a giddy sort of excited way.....

Positive Reinforcement in a Cake

Along with the "Basic" graduation cake came a slightly more elaborate Positive Reinforcement cake. The Bobcat Award is an award granted to kids when they are caught doing something Wonderful. So it seemed only right that there should be a Bobcat award for the Entire Class of 2010!!

The cake was a Chocolate Chocolate Chip with a yummy Buttercream icing for the topper. Everyone loves chocolate!

Rock Climbing Cake

Just a quickie - I can't believe I didn't take a picture of the fondant climber guy I made to go with this cake - or the top of the cake - or the whole thing together. Pretty sure that I did......can't find them anywhere.

So this is it - 1 picture. The birthday boy asked for a Rock Climbing theme'd cake. In Camo.....really? Yeppers - he loves camo colored stuff - not so hard - kinda. Can't mix the colors all that much because you could end up with some awful color. In the end it turned out really cute!!

Cake was Chocolate. Icing was a Chocolate Buttercream. Covered in a Vanilla Fondant and some Vanilla Buttercream tinted green for the base and red for the writing.

Here Comes the Bride

This was soooooo much fun to make. Yet at the same time it just about drove me to tears when I was actually creating it.

The event was a Bridal shower. The bridesmaid throwing the party gave me a swatch of fabric and said "make something cute - I totally trust you". Since she is a friend I figured that it needed to be something SUPER CREATIVE because it is a goal to impress all friends with wonderful things that they are deserving of. And then I found a picture of a cake with dresses like these on a cake.

Of course figuring I could do it I picked that as my pattern. And Good Gravy was I mildly regretting it when I realized I had little clue as to what to do with fondant when working with intricate surfaces and not simple flat lines.

In the end - after much self cursing - I won the battle and this super cute cake was completed!!

Marble cake - dresses are yellow and chocolate - Vanilla Buttercream icing under the fondant and on the half sheet cake. All yum!!
